Research discoveries don’t become life-changing innovations all by themselves. In fiscal year 2018, Pitt’s Innovation Institute helped researchers disclose 363 inventions, file 98 patents, and found 23 startups.

And through a $1 million investment, Pitt has supported 42 commercialization projects since 2017. One of these projects, LyGenesis, leveraged Pitt’s investment to secure $3 million in seed capital for its revolutionary liver transplant therapy.
